Coverage before camera count
Start with a simple site plan. Define whether each view needs general observation or useful identifying detail. Field of view, mounting position, backlight and night lighting can matter as much as a resolution number.
Choose the connection
Wired PoE systems are useful for planned multi-camera installations. Wi-Fi may suit smaller locations with dependable coverage. Remote 4G cameras need a realistic power, data and maintenance plan.
Keep control of the system
Create owner-controlled accounts, unique credentials and appropriate access roles. Agree recording retention and the export process. Position cameras to meet the security purpose without unnecessary coverage of private areas.
- Check daytime and night footage.
- Test recording, playback and time settings.
- Document network and power dependencies.
- Confirm how updates and support will be handled.
Backup belongs in the design
A camera is only one dependency. For continued recording or remote access, consider the recorder, network switch, router and communications link as part of the load plan.
