INGAA LIFE
Privacy by design

Useful security with thoughtful camera placement

Capture what is necessary for your security purpose and limit unnecessary exposure of neighbours, visitors and staff.

Choose the view with care

Privacy tools can mask areas or people that are not relevant to a surveillance purpose. Start earlier, with camera position and the decision about what needs to be recorded. Discuss neighbouring windows, shared spaces and sensitive areas before installation. Audio recording deserves its own assessment; do not enable it simply because a camera includes a microphone.

  • Use privacy masking where suitable for the selected model.
  • Provide clear information about the surveillance in operation.
  • Agree who can export footage and for what purpose.

Create a practical operating policy

INGAA planning checklist: document a retention period suited to the purpose, an access owner and a process for handling requests or incidents. Avoid sharing recordings casually through personal chat groups. When a business handles employee or customer footage, obtain advice on the applicable Indian requirements for its specific use. This page offers design considerations, not a legal-compliance determination.

  • Review coverage when the property layout changes.
  • Protect exported files and delete unnecessary copies.
  • Revisit access when a service contract ends.
