Give access deliberately
Manufacturer hardening guidance recommends authenticated access, supported software updates and reducing unnecessary services. Use individual accounts where available and reserve administrator rights for the people who need them. Avoid exposing camera or recorder interfaces directly to the public internet. Have remote access configured using the supported secure method for the chosen equipment.
- Set unique credentials; remove unneeded installer access after handover.
- Use multifactor authentication where supported.
- Record equipment models and software-support responsibilities.
Make maintenance repeatable
INGAA owner checklist: assign someone to review access when staff leave or responsibilities change. Keep recovery contact details under the customer's control. Plan software maintenance with the service team and check recording afterward. Report unexpected logins, missing footage or unexplained settings changes instead of assuming they are harmless glitches.
- Ask how updates are verified and scheduled.
- Keep access and export permissions proportionate to each role.
- Include network equipment and the recorder in the security review.
